Holger was a student at the National School of Decorative Art in Aubusson, and worked with Lurçat before his death in 1966. He created many dreamlike cartoons woven in Aubusson. Based in the United States, he remains a tireless defender and witness to modern tapestry, organizing exhibitions and conferences on the subject.
Some of his cartoons were woven in the 2 active manufacturing facilities in Germany, in Nuremberg and Munich, at the Aubusson workshop.
