Marchande d’illusions (Purveyor of illusions)

Aubusson tapestry woven by the Pinton workshop.
With its ribbon.
Circa 1955.

Elie Grekoff, whose aesthetic is similar to that of Lurçat, designed over 300 cartoons.

“Purveyor of illusions” is typical of a vein characteristic of Grekoff where melancholic children consider each other, as in a scene on a stage, redolent of an illustration for a folk tale.
