The golden fruits
Tapestry woven in Aubusson by the Tabard workshop.
With its selvedge signed by the artist.
Circa 1965.
Although he became a cartoon painter later in life, Henri Ilhe nevertheless conceived, from 1964 onwards, a very considerable woven body of work (more than 120 cartoons, all woven at Tabard) in a charming style, made up of birds or butterflies frolicking in shrubs with gnarled branches.
"The golden fruits" is, in this respect, characteristic of Ilhe's bucolic inspiration.
