Carzou is one of the many artists whose work was woven in Bièvres at the Moulin de Vauboyen (hence the MV mark woven into the weave of the tapestries), which was transformed into a Cultural Center in 1959 by Pierre de Tartas and dedicated to figurative art. Cocteau, Foujita, Erni, Volti, and many others passed through its doors, creating numerous works there, both monumental and in the applied arts (particularly book illustration).
While he made a name for himself early in his career as a painter of large-scale sets (particularly for the stage), Carzou's forays into tapestry are relatively rare. This cartoon showcases the artist's characteristic style, characterized by interwoven lines illustrating dreamlike subjects, reminiscent of the work of Lucien Coutaud.
