Voyages, the 3rd millennium
Aubusson tapestry woven in Jacques Fadat's workshop.
Certificate signed by the artist, No. 1/1.
2000.
If he made himself known, at the beginning of his career, as a painter of large-scale decorations (for the stage in particular), Carzou's forays into tapestry are relatively rare. We find in this cartoon the very characteristic style of the artist, made up of intertwined lines illustrating oneiric subjects: the theme is a reprise of the (only) cartoon by Carzou woven by the National Manufactures, “The Invitation to Travel”. At the dawn of the 3rd millennium (and a few months before his death), the artist, a regular critic of modern society, has a unique vision of future travel, turned towards aerostation and sailing.
