Winter sun

No. 1/1.
Circa 1980.

Michel Degand, a protean artist (painter, sculptor, illustrator, etc.), has, in more than 50 years of creation, designed around one hundred tapestry cartoons, in a constantly renewed inspiration, sometimes dreamlike or "cosmic" (in the style of Wogensky), other times "technological" (in the style of Millecamps), often lyrical, with a marked interest in the material, and most of them woven at Pinton, in Felletin.

The sun is a recurring motif for the artist; but, in this fragmented composition, he uses, as Sautour-Gaillard would in the 90s, reweavings (with a finer stitch), as if glued into the pattern, of fragments of old tapestries, creating unusual juxtapositions.
