Fumeron creates his first cartoons (he will produce more than 500) from the 1940s onwards, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before participating in the decoration of the 'France' liner. Initially figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he evolves towards abstraction, before returning to a colourful and realistic figuration from the 1980s onwards.

Fumeron, in the current of the 60s, thus evolves, like some of his peers (Matégot, Wogensky,…) towards abstraction. His compositions are then sometimes inspired by great texts (Cf. “Hamlet”) translated into a kaleidoscope of very personal colors.
