Fumeron produced his first cartoons (he would go on to produce more than 500) from the 1940s onwards, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before participating in the decoration of the 'France' liner. Initially figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he evolved towards abstraction, before returning to a colourful and realistic figuration from the 1980s onwards.
The setting sun, the orange chromatic range, the composition on the borderline between figuration and abstraction are characteristic of the artist's cartoons at this time.
