Fumeron created his first cartoons (he would go on to create more than 500) in the 1940s, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the French government, before participating in the decoration of the ocean liner "France". Initially figurative, and influenced by Lurçat, he moved towards abstraction, before returning to a colorful and realistic figurative style from the 1980s onwards.
The touch of exoticism reappears sporadically in Fumeron's work during the 1960s: one thinks of his cards "Osaka", "Samurai" or "The Monsoon". No literal evocation, however: the partially obstructed circle (Sun?) remains a leitmotif, whatever the title.
