Coral Sun
Aubusson tapestry woven by the Pinton workshop.
With its signed border by the artist.
Circa 1960.
Fumeron produced his first cartoons (he would produce more than 500) from the 1940s, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before participating in the decoration of the 'France' liner. Initially figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he evolved towards abstraction, before returning to a colorful and realistic figuration from the 1980s.
Vertical weave of branches in which chined fish evolve, hiding a glowing red sun: all the fantasy of Fumeron is gathered in this typical cartoon.
