Coral Sun

Aubusson tapestry woven by the Pinton workshop.
With its signed by the artist.
Circa 1960.

Fumeron creates his first cartoons (he will produce more than 500) from the 1940s onwards, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before participating in the decoration of the 'France' liner. Initially figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he evolves towards abstraction, before returning to a colourful and realistic figuration from the 1980s onwards.

Vertical weave of branches in which chintz fish evolve, hiding a glowing sun: all Fumeron's fantasy is combined in this typical cartoon.
