Bouquet

Aubusson tapestry woven by the Bascoulergue workshop.
Circa 1960.

First a poster artist, then an ethnographic artist during the war, Perrot began his work as a painter-cartoonist at the end of it: he designed nearly 500 cartoons, obtaining numerous commissions from the State (33 cartoons, Perrot is the most represented cartoonist of the 20th century in the collections of the Mobilier National!), most of which were woven in Aubusson. His highly decorative and shimmering style is very characteristic: treated in flat areas (without chintz, without stitching) an abundance of animals (mostly birds) stands out, without perspective, against a vegetal background, in the taste of medieval mille-fleurs tapestries.

Cartoon « mixed », vegetal and animal, where the usual birds are merged into a floral setting, as in cartoon « the garden of Sophie », but with the eruptive flowers of « Firework Bouquet ».
