The Pond
Aubusson tapestry woven in the Legoueix workshop.
With its label label signed by the artist, no. 6/6.
Circa 1965.
It was in 1953 that Jean Picart le Doux offered Chaye the opportunity to become his assistant and encouraged him to create tapestry cartoons: he then produced numerous bucolic cartoons, as well as views of Normandy (Mont Saint Michel, Honfleur, regattas,…), from where he originated.
Exact reprise of the cartoon 'Nénuphars', only the green background has been modified.
