Setting sun
Aubusson tapestry woven by the Four workshop. No. 2/6. Circa 1970.
Fumeron created his first cartoons (he would create more than 500) from the 1940s onward, collaborating with the workshops Pinton, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before participating in the decoration of the liner « France ». First figurative, and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a colorful and realistic figuration from the 1980s. A recurring motif in Fumeron’s work, the setting sun (orange or red) appears here veiled behind a curtain of trees, in a cartoon close to abstraction.
