Better known for his geometrically inspired paintings incorporating on occasion mechanical elements, Gachon designed several tapestry cartoons even from the early days of his career as his contacts with the Tabard workshop from the late 1960’s reveal.
This design shows the influence on the young man of lyrical abstraction, an artistic current which finds little expression generally in tapestry.
