At night

Tapestry woven by the Claire Rado workshop.
With its ribbon signed by the artist.
Circa 1965.

In 1964, Claire Rado designed and wove her first tapestry in her Suresnes studio, which she subsequently exhibited at the Galerie La Demeure. She wove her own cartoons, but, like Daquin or Coffinet, for example, she also transposed the works of others (Soulages in particular, in Claire Rado's case). Her early, abstract tapestries were followed by monumental woven figures where the surrounding warp threads were left exposed.

Tapestry from the artist's early period, where the design serves his technical mastery.
