It was in 1953 that Jean Picart le Doux offered Chaye the opportunity to become his assistant and encouraged him to create tapestry cartoons: he then produced numerous bucolic cartoons, as well as views of Normandy (Mont Saint Michel, Honfleur, regattas,…), from where he originated.

Classic cartoon in the naturalist vein of the artist, specializing in enclosures, hedges and other riverbanks, animated with animals.
