A self-taught abstract artist, Caroline Lonchambon has remained on the fringes of the official or commercial channels through which her work is promoted. Her woven work, often composed of circles (and influenced by Kupka), oscillates between a representation of the infinitely vast (‘Parcelles de Cosmos’) and a microscopic perspective (‘Atomes messagers de joie’), although in our ‘Soleil levant’ it takes on a more figurative form. It was generally woven by Pierre Daquin’s workshop in Saint-Cyr.
