Better known as a painter in the naive style, Mady de la Giraudière produced very few tapestry cartoons. However “L’été”, with its haymaking peasants, its bucolic picnic hamper and typical bottle of red wine has a particular atmosphere, in a realistic tone which is rare in tapestries of this period.
