Toffoli devoted himself extensively to tapestry with the Robert Four manufactory from 1976 onward, producing hundreds of Cartoons. One finds the post-Cubist transparencies characteristic of the painter, as well as his subjects. Indeed, Toffoli’s tapestry does not distinguish itself from his painting: as a painter-traveller, he illustrates in our Cartoon the junks observed during stays in the Far East.
