Back in France in the 1950s, after a long stay in Argentina, Berroeta then produced many Cartoons in a style that was first figurative (animals, figures, …), then turned to abstraction, as in his painting.

 

Exotic inspiration recurs frequently in Berroeta, often in an allusive way: neither the animals nor the plants can be definitively identified; taken together, they aim at allegory.
