The evening joys

Aubusson tapestry, woven by the Atelier Tabard.
With its bolduc signed by the artist, no. 1.
Circa 1968.

Known for his geometric painting sometimes made of machinist-like elements, Gachon designed a few tapestry cartoons, and did so from the very start of his career, since from the end of the 1960s he was already in contact with the Atelier Tabard.

Our cartoon bears witness to the influence of lyrical abstraction on the young artist—an orientation that was ultimately rather little represented in tapestry.
