The Odyssey
A tapestry from Aubusson woven in the Pinton workshops.
With its bolduc signed, n°1/6.
Circa 1965.
Fumeron produced his first Cartoons (he would make more than 500) from the 1940s, working with the Pinton workshops, and then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before taking part in the decoration of the "France" ocean liner. Initially figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a colorful, realistic figuration from the 1980s.
Fumeron therefore evolved, during the 1960s, like some of his peers (Matégot, Wogensky,…) toward abstraction. His compositions were then sometimes inspired by major texts (Cf. " Hamlet"), translated into a kaleidoscope of very personal colors.
