Fumeron made his first Cartoons (of which he would produce more than 500) from the 1940s onward, collaborating with the workshops Pinton, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before taking part in the decoration of the liner « France ». First figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a brightly colored and realistic figuration from the 1980s.
The setting sun, the orange chromatic palette, and a composition poised on the boundary between figuration and abstraction are characteristic of the artist’s cartons from this period.
