Fumeron produced his first cartoons (he would go on to make more than 500) from the 1940s, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before taking part in the decoration of the liner « France ». First figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a colored and realistic figuration from the 1980s onward.
Perched birds on a tree before an orange sun, against a khaki ground: a cartoon characteristic of the artist’s decorative and naturalistic vein (cf. “ciel de Sienne” for example); it is only the scope of the cartoon that makes our model distinctive.
