Composition

Aubusson tapestry woven by the Four workshop.
N° EA.
Circa 1960.

Fumeron made his first cartoons (he would make more than 500) starting in the 1940s, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, and then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before taking part in the decoration of the liner "France". First figurative and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a colorful and realistic figuration from the 1980s onward.

A typical abstract cartoon by the artist, in a vein (and a chromatic range!) that brings him close to Borderie or Wogensky—and whose works from that period, though forgotten, had nothing to envy those of his peers.
